Dr. Alana Thompson
Originally from New England, Dr. Alana completed her undergraduate education at Tufts University near Boston before moving to the Bay Area to pursue a dental degree. She received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of California at San Francisco in 2003, where she was honored with several awards and a scholarship for her work in dental research and community service.
UC San Francisco is also where Dr. Alana met her husband Zach, a Santa Cruz native who shares her passion for healthcare and love of the outdoors. After completing their training in and around California, they decided to settle near Zach's childhood home, where they are now raising a family of their own.
Over the past 20 years, Dr. Alana has practiced general dentistry in both private practice and non-profit settings. Passionate that everyone should have access to quality dental care, Dr. Alana served as a dentist at a local a non-profit dental center, providing oral health services to those in need in Santa Cruz County. After becoming Dental Director of the organization, she continued her work on a larger scale by creating mobile dental programs that deliver on-site care to low income students, pregnant women and seniors in the Santa Cruz area- so those individuals do not have to take time off of work and school, or wait for transportation to get the care they need.
