Dr. Alana Thompson

Originally from New England, Dr. Alana completed her undergraduate education at Tufts University near Boston before moving to the Bay Area to pursue a dental degree. She received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of California at San Francisco in 2003, where she was honored with several awards and a scholarship for her work in dental research and community service.
UC San Francisco is also where Dr. Alana met her husband Zach, a Santa Cruz native who shares her passion for healthcare and love of the outdoors. After completing their training in and around California, they decided to settle near Zach's childhood home, where they are now raising a family of their own.

Over the past 20 years, Dr. Alana has practiced general dentistry in both private practice and non-profit settings. Passionate that everyone should have access to quality dental care, Dr. Alana served as a dentist at a local a non-profit dental center, providing oral health services to those in need in Santa Cruz County. After becoming Dental Director of the organization, she continued her work on a larger scale by creating mobile dental programs that deliver on-site care to low income students, pregnant women and seniors in the Santa Cruz area- so those individuals do not have to take time off of work and school, or wait for transportation to get the care they need.

In her private practice, Dr. Thompson enjoys providing dental care to people of all ages. She understands that going to the dentist might not be your favorite activity, but her goal is to make the experience as convenient and comfortable as possible. She strives to provide a patient-centered dental experience- where patient and doctor work together to develop a plan for health- whether those needs include prevention, improving function or enhancing a smile. Committed to providing the best and most up to date care possible for her patients, Dr. Thompson completes over 30 hours of continuing education per year including courses in pediatric dentistry, dental implants, endodontics and oral surgery.
Outside the dental office, Dr. Thompson can be found riding bikes with her husband and their two sons, outrigger canoe and stand-up paddling, or curling up with a good book.

DORA MITCHELL
DORA MITCHELL
Dora is our Front Office Administrator at Seabright Dental Studio. She supports our practice and our patients from the initial phone call to the completion of treatment and keeps our patients on schedule with preventative care. Dora started in the dental field 17 years ago and enjoys the interaction with patients, making them feel welcomed and comfortable with the care that they deserve. She strives to help our patients navigate the often complex world of dental benefit insurance to make sure the patient understands the benefits they have.
Dora is a native Californian and grew up in the Bay Area prior to moving here to Santa Cruz in 2006. She has two children , both of whom graduated from Harbor High School and have become successful in their adult life. Dora enjoys music , movies , good food and good company. After so many weekends coming "over the hill" to visit our beautiful bit of paradise she would never imagine going back to the hustle and bustle . Dora truly loves what she does here and looks forward to what lies ahead.
KELLY KRAUEL RDH
KELLY KRAUEL RDH
Kelly is a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) with 28 years of experience in the dental field. She earned her Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license in 1995. While raising two boys and working full time, she attended evening classes at Cabrillo College. She obtained her RDH degree and license in 2010, graduating near the top of her class. Kelly served as Dental Hygiene Class President for two years and received the Leadership Award upon graduation. She has experience working with all ages in general practice, along with several years in a pediatric dental setting.

Before entering dentistry, Kelly was a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), primarily caring for the elderly—including those in Alzheimer’s facilities—and providing home healthcare for individuals with brain and spinal cord injuries. These experiences give her valuable insight into how to better support her patients.
Kelly was born in Rhode Island and moved to Santa Cruz as a child. She is married to her husband, Tyler, and is the proud mother of three sons and one daughter. As a family, they enjoy camping, fishing, boating, beach days, and walking their dog, Cruz, a Belgian Malinois. They live on the Eastside of Santa Cruz.
LESLIE GONZALES, RDH
Leslie is a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) with 18 years of dental experience. She first obtained her Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license in 2003 from the Regional Occupational Program in Riverside, CA. While working as an assistant, she developed a love for dentistry and wanted to advance her clinical skills and scope of practice. In 2008, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from CSU San Bernardino. She graduated from the dental hygiene program at Cabrillo College in 2010, where she received the Golden Scaler Award—for excellence and high honors in clinical dental hygiene. She aims to educate and motivate her patients toward lifelong oral and systemic health. Leslie volunteers annually for local dental health events and is an active member of the California Dental Hygienists' Association.
Leslie grew up in Southern California and moved to Aptos in 2008.  She and her husband, Eric, have two sons and a Siberian Husky. Riding bikes, hiking, and cooking are a few of her hobbies.

With over 30 years of experience in the dental field, Mitra joined Seabright Dental Studio in 2025, bringing with her a deep passion for patient care and connection. As the first friendly face you’ll see when you walk through our doors, Mitra is committed to creating a warm, welcoming, and stress-free experience for all.
At the front desk, she expertly manages scheduling, insurance questions, and patient communication—all with a warm smile and a personal touch. Mitra’s favorite part of her work is building positive relationships with patients and helping create a sense of community and trust.
Mitra enjoys beach walks, painting, and trying out new crafts. She loves dancing to music and believes a good song can brighten anyone’s day! Mitra is proud to be part of the Seabright Dental Studio team and looks forward to making every patient feel right at home.

Cici is our newest Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH). She’s a seasoned hygienist with a remarkable 13-year journey in the field since obtaining her license in 2010. More than just a professional, Cici brings a legacy deeply intertwined with dentistry—she was practically raised in a dental office. The daughter of a dental receptionist and granddaughter of a dentist, dentistry felt like a natural path. By high school, Cici was working as a Dental Assistant and later pursued a career in hygiene.

After earning her license, she was quickly recognized for her academic excellence and began serving the Santa Cruz community with a focus on improving oral health. Outside the office, she enjoys cooking, fishing, gardening, and spending quality time with her husband and three daughters. We’re so excited to welcome Cici to our team, and she looks forward to providing top-quality care in a comfortable setting here at Seabright Dental Studio.
